We Be Scamming

Oh, how I love living here in the middle east. We went shopping in the shuk in Tel Aviv the other day. Eva asked one of the guys why they didn't sell organic vegetables. He said because nobody would ever believe that they were being honest.

Today I picked up my 455 photos that I took for the prom at our school. The price was supposed to be in the 2's (NIS). I asked the guy, when necessary to crop as needed. He then charged me 3.5 each saying that he had to crop all of them. What a crock. Now I am sitting here noticing that they were all misnumbered. All of them. Thus I need to go back and argue with the scam man which is one of the most frustrating prospects I've had in a long time. My stomach churns already.

I have seen these behaviors which such consistency for 16 years. Yes, people in the states make a living out of ripping others off too (hey Enron folks, enjoy your cells). I realize that this behavior occurs everywhere. Yet on the little man level, where I am, I was able to see it coming so much better and so much quicker in the states. I survived NY at a young age. I bought but one "real" Rolex in my life (I really was young). I figured things out. However here, I constantly get suckered.

Which leads me, as it always does, to politics. If this behavior is so embedded in the middle east mentality, then how can there ever be peace? We are all scamming each other and are all aware that the scam is coming. There is no truth in other words thus there are only lies. If this is the case, can land ever be fairly divided? Can governments ever learn to live side-by-side? Scams.
