You know, we all seem to go down so many lost roads in our lives. Roads that don't have a name and take us from our intended destination. But some of these roads lead us where we didn't know we were going and when we get there it's like coming home.

Maybe We Are All A Bit Brain Dead
Okay, Sharon is almost dead. Let's not beat around the bush, if he survives he'll wish that he was dead if he has any cognitive functioning at all. Seeing that Conde is canceling her trip to Asia, I have the feeling that she has been told of his dire state and is planning to come here next week for the funeral. But, we will survive. This very tough country has survived worse than the death of one of its leaders and it will continue on regardless of who is at the helm (even Bibi if, God forbid, wins again). The problem, the real problem is that our leaders are just so damn corrupt. You have Clintons with White Water and his sexual adventures. Bush and Cheney with their ties to their oil interests. S and L's and ENRON. What else? So many other world leaders with dirty hands. A crazed imbecile in Iran who has confused the real meaning of a great religion as Islam. Pat Robertson who is foolish enough to think that he has a direct pipeline to God when in fact he most likely has his head stuck high in his anal orifice. And Mr. Sharon and his family who have hoarded so much dirty money and taken so much Negev land with such impunity (for the time being Omri). Yet, you want to talk brain dead. Well, recent reports suggest that the Ozone (remember that) layer hole continues to enlarge. It's about the size of the U.S. now. Older cars continue to leak CFC's as do pieces of foam in our garbage dumps. We roll merrily so merrily along hoping for the best and demanding so little of our appointed leaders (tell me, how powerful are the Montreal protocols?) fill their pockets at our expense. Our collective vegetative state disgusts me.

"Quo Vadis" You forgot about the comming collapse of the American Dollar have you checked the Gold vs. Dollar value lately. Pessimism will be as abundant as inflated dollars. Obsess yourself in the photo art of which you do so well, in the big picture of all things you'll find happiness there.
Jamie, in case you didn't the quote,
"Quo Vadis". - where we are going?
One much "obsess" themselves with all that is around them. I think we are all a bit afraid of calling things as they are for fear of being called a "pessimist." I really don't care. There will be no photos to take if our environmental destruction continues as it does. I like European Mountains in the summer filled with glaciers. Ain't gonna be there if we continue as we are. I like taking a ride in my neighborhood without breathing in pollutants that impact my health. I also like going with a camera into the nature here and not having to create a unique angle that allows me to hide all the garbage that is randomly dumped here or riding safely across a stream knowing that the water which comes in contact with me is not going to make me sick. These are real problems that our little country has and I am sure exists in many countries in the world. The US is so big these things can be hidden; here they can't.
