The Kite Runner

Yes I know that half the world has read this book and that I am one of the last but...

Some books just don't flow for me. I try to read them because they are supposed to be "good" but then give up (for instance The Red Tent). Others, like The Kite Runner, suck me in and take me somewhere that I didn't know I could go. I am not sure exactly what one has over the other but this book creates vivid impressions across all sensory channels. I think too, that its emotional content is so real, so plausable, that for people like me it becomes possible.
